While sitting at a red light in June of 2015, Sarah was in an automobile accident that left her with a torn rotator cuff and bicep tendon tears.
Following the guidance of her initial doctor, she first tried physical therapy prior to having surgery. As time went on, she realized that she would need more than just physical therapy in order to return to her active lifestyle. “I missed rowing and catering for large groups. Sometimes the large pots could way up to 50 lbs and I could no longer lift them”, shared Sarah.
The following year Sarah had surgery for both her injured rotator cuff and bicep tendon tears. Eight weeks following the surgery, things were going as well as could be expected. Unfortunately that abruptly changed when she was required to be re-examined. During the evaluation, the examiner reinjured both her shoulder and bicep. “I was in extreme pain as if I just got out of surgery”, explains Sarah. She went back to her original doctor, and he confirmed that the surgical repairs were damaged. Sarah’s worst nightmare became reality, and she would need to be operated on again to fix her rotator cuff and bicep.
Sarah explained, “After everything that I have been through, I wanted to have the surgery done just one more time and be able to get back to my active life.” She knew that she needed to find an Orthopedic Specialist with a creative edge, and someone interested in new techniques. After spending considerable time researching the Internet and talking to friends and family, Sarah finally found Dr. Steven Struhl.
During her first appointment with Dr. Struhl, Sarah was extremely impressed by the thoroughness of his evaluation, his success rate using modern procedures, as well as being a Shoulder Specialist. She decided that Dr. Struhl was the best Orthopedic Surgeon to repair her rotator cuff and bicep injuries.
The surgery was a success, and even the experience coming out of the anesthesia was better than her previous surgery. Sarah shared, “This time I was only in pain for 36-48 hours versus a few weeks of pain compared to my first surgery. I think that the combination of Dr. Struhl’s focus on perfection, and a detailed game plan for a successful recovery made all of the difference. I feel that I am getting stronger every day, and I am looking forward to rowing, kayaking, canoeing, and cooking for large groups again. I highly recommend Dr. Struhl to anyone looking for an Orthopedic Surgeon who is not set on their “old ways” and someone who embraces the newest technologies for successful outcomes.”
